Osprey's Dominion
Ninety acres of vinifera grapes grow under the watchful eye of the soaring Osprey, our vineyard’s namesake. Our state-of-the-art winery shows our commitment to fine winemaking.
Our first vines were planted on 24 acres in Peconic in 1983. An additional 16 acre parcel in Mattituck was purchased and planted in the late 1980’s, but it wasn’t until the early 90’s, when we purchases 50 acres of land and buildings at our present Main road location in Peconic, that we began producing and selling the Osprey brand. In 2012, our entire Richmond Creek second label was introduced to compliment the Osprey line.
Although the Long Island wine region is located at approximately the same latitude as the great wine growing regions of France, at Osprey’s Dominion we truly believe our location (being surrounded, yet sheltered, by both the LI Sound and Peconic Bay) and the complexity of the farming soil here, contribute significantly to the quality and character of our grapes, and hence, our wines.
Our overall philosophy is to produce the best wines with the least interference from humankind. We believe that our unique location, soil complexity and Mother Nature give us something different to work with each year, and it is our job and vocation to develop what we’ve been given, into the very best it can be. The History of Suffolk Designer Lighting
Over 40 years ago, Bill and Dolores Kreitsek opened Suffolk Designer Lighting ("SDL") in Riverhead, New York. At that time, SDL catered mainly to local electricians and homeowners.
In 1974, SDL moved to a new facility on East Main Street in Riverhead. While on East Main Street, SDL grew its electrical and lighting business, selling to a wide array of customers on both Forks of Long Island and Western Suffolk County. In 1985, SDL opened its store in Southampton, the location where SDL still operates. Over the past 23 years, SDL has continued to grow, but remains a closely held family business that emphasizes its relationships with its customers.
For over 40 years, SDL has been a leader in illumination. Today, the business serves the entire East Coast from its home in Southampton.
